Terms and Expressions:
心理暗示 (xīnlǐ ànshì) refers to the subtle influence that certain thoughts, words, or environments have on a person’s emotions, behavior, or mindset—often without them realizing it. It can come from others or be self-imposed. These suggestions can be positive (boosting confidence, motivation) or negative (causing fear, hesitation).
Here are a few examples:
那位演讲者用鼓励的话语给观众强烈的心理暗示,让大家觉得自己一定能成功。
Nà wèi yǎnjiǎng zhě yòng gǔlì de huàyǔ gěi guānzhòng qiángliè de xīnlǐ ànshì, ràng dàjiā juéde zìjǐ yídìng néng chénggōng.
The speaker used encouraging words to strongly suggest to the audience that they could succeed.
Měitiān zhào jìngzi shí wēixiào yíxià, yě shì gěi zìjǐ yí gè jījí de xīnlǐ ànshì.
Smiling at yourself in the mirror every day is a simple way to give yourself a positive mental cue.
逆境 (nì jìng) – Adversity; difficult or unfavorable circumstances that challenge a person’s strength, patience, or determination.
Here are a few examples:
他在逆境中依然坚持梦想,没有放弃。
Tā zài nìjìng zhōng yīrán jiānchí mèngxiǎng, méiyǒu fàngqì.
Even in tough times, he held on to his dream and never gave up.
Nìjìng bìng bù kěpà, kěpà de shì zài kùnnán miànqián dītóu.
Adversity isn’t the real threat — giving in to it is.
浇熄 (jiāo xī) mean To extinguish (a fire or flame) by pouring something (usually water) on it; can also be used metaphorically to describe quelling or dampening strong emotions, passions, or enthusiasm.
Here are a few examples:
即使遭遇了很多失败,他的信念仍未被浇熄。
Jíshǐ zāoyù le hěn duō shībài, tā de xìnniàn réng wèi bèi jiāo xī.
Even after many failures, his belief never faded.
Her words were like cold water — they killed my enthusiasm.

When faced with challenges, they think, “Let me give it a try,” or “I’ll hang in there a little longer and see what happens.” These kinds of positive affirmations help them face difficulties with courage and resilience.
Because they have that grit, they keep climbing toward the mountaintop even when they're at their lowest. They can still sense the fragrance of life even as they stumble along the way. Deep within their soul, the bell of hope keeps ringing.
Don’t worry—this inner drive can always be restored.
Some say that grit can be even more fragile than morning dew. A single mocking remark or a bout of failure can be enough to snuff it out.
You can flex your muscles by doing a Paraphrasing practice to round things up.
